Jonas appreciates close collaboration and good sparring

Jonas Ras Pazdzior er uddannet dimplomingeniør hos Cirkom

Jonas Ras Pazdzior is a graduate engineer from DTU specializing in mechanical engineering and automation. At 33 years old and with about three years at Cirkom, he is also relatively new to automation for the pharmaceutical, biotech and food industries.

The fact that Jonas has gotten to know Cirkom really well and contributes to solving all kinds of complex issues and projects is largely due to the way Cirkom works.

“We’re a small organization and I work very closely with both our two experienced owner-managers and other skilled colleagues. There is always time to go through things and talk them through until you have enough knowledge and understanding to solve a task,” Jonas explains.

His career as a graduate engineer started at the City of Copenhagen, where he worked with operational monitoring of all the city’s fountains. Here he gained insight into the design of many historic and iconic fountains – including some that were built before the pump was invented.

After a break and a trip to South America, Jonas returned home during the corona epidemic and got a job at Novotek in Glostrup. Here he became acquainted with the pharmaceutical industry, but primarily used the IT part of his profession, programming, setting up and servicing SQL and SCADA systems.

“At Cirkom, I’ve gotten closer to the actual production processes and control processes. It’s much more interesting when you gain deep insight into how the specific process works and how the architecture and control system should be designed at the plant to create an optimal solution,” Jonas explains.

All the way around his profession

Jonas helps design, build and service SCADA systems based on iFIX and connect them to the plants’ PLC controls. Sometimes he is also involved when Cirkom designs the entire process and sets up and services the PLC controllers.

“I get the full range of my profession and benefit from both my mechanical engineering knowledge and my knowledge of automation. And in the specific projects, I’m constantly adding new skills and understanding more processes,” he says.

Jonas’ typical workday at Cirkom starts around eight o’clock, so he has time to complete a task or two before the daily board meeting at 9am, where the day is prioritized and tasks are assigned.

“We are very open about what customers expect from us, what we work on as a team and what we each bring to the table. It makes us more focused, but also less vulnerable. Everyone is somewhat involved, so we can easily cover for each other during illness and vacation,” says Jonas.

Circkom’s office and meeting rooms are beautifully located north of Roskilde with a view of Roskilde Fjord. This is where Jonas spends most of his working days. The exception is a weekly home working day and when he occasionally visits a customer to do a run-in.

“I live in Nørrebro in Copenhagen, so I really enjoy getting out into the countryside and experiencing the open countryside and the fjord with the changing weather and seasons. There’s a good, relaxed atmosphere here, even though we’re often immersed in our own tasks. Working days also often include a small meeting or two with status, project meetings or sparring. And then we gather for lunch,” says Jonas.

High demands on precision and control

He finds it interesting and challenging to work with automation in pharma and biotech, where there are very high demands for precision and requirements for control and documentation.

“With automation you can do many smart things, but we always have those extra dimensions, because can the smart solution be validated?” says Jonas.

Jonas and his wife live with their young son in the apartment in Nørrebro where he grew up. He is the chairman of the cooperative housing association and also spends time with his friends, working out and playing Dungeons & Dragons. Jonas has previously been very active around Folkets Hus, and the neighborhood means a lot to him.
